about

Beautiful Freaks is a Seattle-based genre-fluid punk band whose uncompromising musicianship, chaotic stage presence, and ever-shifting sound has earned them a cult following within and beyond their local scene.

As teens guitarist James Bonaci (she/they) and drummer Peter Bryson (he/him) bonded over a shared love of experimental punk, metal, and jazz. In 2017 they officially formed Beautiful Freaks, now joined by bassist Yoel Boxer (he/she/they) and vocalist Autumn Marceau (she/her) as of 2026.

Refusing to be confined to a punk-shaped box, Freaks' most recent release, and the first to feature the new lineup, Malaise raises their idiosyncratic style to new heights. Reflective of woes both personal and political in nature, Malaise sees Freaks once again effortlessly traversing genre, dipping into post-punk, indie rock, grunge, and sludge across the record's four tracks.

In 2024, Freaks released their debut studio album We Talk To Birds, preceded by the frenetic 80HD EP and their first LP Cameo Artist.

Since their conception, Freaks have headlined a national tour, completed multiple west coast tours, and opened for high-profile artists such as Jack White, Chat Pile, and Naked Giants. In 2024, they received a $10,000 grant from the Seattle Sonic Guild.

On October 30th, Freaks will release a bandcamp exclusive single "Pig Orgy," a new fan favorite at their live performances in which they ceremoniously wear pig masks, screaming and shredding their way through a critique of fascism and the myriad of industrial complexes that permeate American life.

We are fierce supporters of queer and trans liberation for punks of all ages. Beautiful Freaks encourages those around us to be loud, proud, and their freakiest selves. Serve and engage with your communities. Uplift marignalized voices, start a band, start a venue, a grassroots collective. the change starts with you!
